titleOfInvention | Production of cis-4-hydroxy-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexanone |
abstract | PURPOSE: To easily produce the titled compound in a short time, by adding 2,2,6-trimethyl-1,4-cyclohexadione to a culture liquid for a microbial strain belonging to Bacillus genus and culturing the strain in the medium. n CONSTITUTION: A microbial strain belonging to Bacillus genus, e.g. Bacillus NK86-0151 (FERM P-8894) is inoculated in a liquid medium and cultured at about 45W57°C to obtain a seed strain. The seed strain is inoculated in a liquid medium and cultured at about 45W57°C under aeration and agitation. 2,2,6- Trimethyl-1,4-cyclohexadione is added to the medium at the initial stage of logarithmic growth phase of the microorganism and the culture is continued under shaking to convert the above compound into the objective cis-4- hydroxy-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexanone of formula I. The objective compound can be separated from the medium by extracting the medium with ethyl acetate, etc., dehydrating, removing the solvent by evaporation, passing the resultant neutral fraction through a silica gel column and eluting the absorbed fraction with a solvent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
