titleOfInvention Semimoist porous pet food and production thereof
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a sufficiently expanded pet food containing a large amount of compounded solute and having high water-content and palatability to pet, by expanding and forming a raw material adjusted to a specific water-content and again hydrating the formed product. n CONSTITUTION: A raw material adjusted to a water-content of 19W23wt% is expanded and formed and the obtained product is again hydrated to obtain a semimoist porous pet food having a bulk density of 320W480g/l and a water- content of 25W35wt%. The pet food is a feed composition for dog, cat, small bird, young pig or calf, especially for dog. The solute in the pet food is a tasty substance such as sugar, glucose, dextrin, amino acid, organic acid, salt, etc., and the palatability is improved by increasing the content of the solute. The hydration is carried out e.g. by putting an expanded and formed raw material in a rotary drum and spraying a specific amount of water into the drum. The amount of sprayed water is determined according to the amount of supplied raw material. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
