titleOfInvention Production of halogenated diene based polymer
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled polymer, having improved pulverizability and capable of providing fine powder having a high apparent specific gravity of powder after pulverization as well as a fine particle diameter, by halogenating a high-cis-1,4-conjugated diene based polymer obtained by using a lanthanum based rare earth metal based catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A diene based polymer is halogenated. In the process, a high cis-1,4-conjugated diene based polymer, obtained by using a lanthanum based rare earth metal based catalyst and having preferably ≥80% 1,4-bond content is used as the diene based polymer. A catalyst, consisting of (A) a lanthanum based rare earth metal compound expressed by the formula LnY 3 (Ln is metal of 57W71 atomic number; Y is halogen, carboxyl, alkoxy, theohalogen or amide) and (B) an organoaluminum compound and, as necessary, containing a Lewis acid and/or Lewis base is preferred for the above-mentioned catalyst. n USE: Useful as coating materials, adhesives, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
