titleOfInvention Optical record reading method
abstract PURPOSE:To enable optical reading at high speed with high precision by recording information on a recording layer containing a polydiacetylene derivative and a squarilium dye with infrared rays specified in wavelength, and reading the information with a visible light specified in wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording medium 1 is provided with the recording layer containing the diacetylene derivative (DA) and the squarilium dye. Ultraviolet rays are projected on the whole surface of the recording layer to polymerize the DA compound and to change its color to blue. The optical recording is executed by converting the input information through a control circuit 3 into infrared ray signals of 800-900nm wavelength and forming images at the prescribed positions of the medium 1, and changing the blue of the DA compound to red by heating of said layer. The record is read by focusing the reading light of 500-750nm wavelength emitted from a semiconductor laser device or a light emitting diode 10 on the recording part of the medium 1, converting the reflected light through a photodetector 12 into electric signals, and sending them to an output circuit 11.
