titleOfInvention Magnetic recording medium
abstract PURPOSE: To decrease the deterioration of magnetic characteristics such as coercive force and saturation magnetization with age even at and under high temp. and high humidity by adhering a rust inhibitor essentially consisting of an unsatd. aliphat. mercaptan on the magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium of a thin ferromagnetic metallic film type. n CONSTITUTION: This recording medium is formed by forming the thin ferromagnetic metallic film on a nonmagnetic base and depositing the unsatd. aliphat. mercaptan to the thin ferromagnetic metallic film. The unsatd. aliphat. mercaptan to be used as the rust inhibitor is the compd. expressed by the formula R-SH (where R is an aliphat. hydrocarbon group of ≥10C having an unsatd. bond). the prescribed rust inhibitive effect is not obtd. if R in the formula is ≤10C. The unsatd. aliphat. mercaptan to be used is exemplified by an oleyl mercaptan, etc. The effect of the rust inhibitor is exhibited if the rust inhibitor is made to exist at least on the surface and if possible, in the inside of the thin ferromagnetic metallic film or in the state of the contact with the boundary face with the subsurface on which the thin ferromagnetic metallic film is formed. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
