titleOfInvention Treatment of radioactive waste material containing sodium nitrate
abstract PURPOSE: To enable solidification of asphalt by adding aluminum hydroxide and/or iron hydroxide to radioactive waste materials contg. sodium nitrate and heating the mixture. n CONSTITUTION: The aluminum hydroxide and/or iron hydroxide is added into the waste neutral or alkaline materials in a method for treating the radioactive waste materials essentially consisting of the sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite. The mixture is then denitrated by heating and is converted to the high melting point decomposition product in the form of powdery or granular lumps contg. the sodium, by which the required solidification of the asphalt is facilitated. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
