abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an aqueous sizing agent for glass fiber giving a glass roving for draw-forming generating little fluffs in winding, by mixing a bisphenol-type epoxy resin, a silane coupling agent, a lubricant and water. n CONSTITUTION: The objective aqueous sizing agent for glass fiber is produced by mixing (A) a bisphenol-type epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent of about 180W1,000 and a molecular weight of about 360W2,000 with (B) a silane coupling agent (e.g. γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane or vinyltrichlorosilane), (C) a lubricant (e.g. silicone oil or fatty acid amide) and (D) water. A glass roving treated with the sizing agent is impregnated with an ortho-iso-bisphenol-type polyester resin, epoxy resin, etc., and subjected to draw forming to obtain a formed article having excellent transparency without causing whitening phenomenon. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
