titleOfInvention Production of thiostrepton
abstract PURPOSE: To produce thiostrepton, by culturing a thiostrepton-producing microbial strain in a culture liquid preventing the deficiency of oxygen concentration by aeration and agitation and intermittently adding a nutrient source when the pH of culture liquid is increased. n CONSTITUTION: A microbial strain capable of producing thiostrepton, e.g. Streptomyces laurentii (ATCC 31255) or Streptomyces azureus (W.C. 3705) is cultured in a medium containing a carbon source, nitrogen source, inorganic substance, etc., under aerobic condition such as aeration and agitation, preferably at 5W9 pH and 22W32°C for 3W10 days. When the dissolved oxygen concentration is lowered to 1W6ppm after the start of culture, it is maintained preferably at 3W5ppm. When the pH is increased by the consumption of the carbon source in the culture liquid, a nutrient source is intermittently added to the medium at a rate of 0.3W1.0g/dl of carbon source and 0.1W0.5g/dl of nitrogen source at a time. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
