abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a composition, consisting of ethylene-propylene copolymer, bromine-containing aromatic compound, antimony trioxide, specific hindered phenol and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole and having high-degree flame retardance and toughness. n CONSTITUTION: A composition obtained by blending (A) 100pts.wt. ethylene- propylene copolymer with ≥70mol.%, preferably 70W85mol.% ethylene content with (B) a bromine-containing aromatic compound with ≥50wt.% bromine content (e.g. decabromodiphenyl ether) in an amount of 10W40pts.wt. expressed in terms of bromine quantity, (C) 5W30pts.wt. antimony trioxide, (D) 0.2W5pts.wt. hindered phenol containing ester group or carbonyl group and (E) 3W30pts.wt. 2-mercaptobenzimidazole, preferably adding an organic peroxide (e.g. dicumyl peroxide), crosslinking assistant, etc., molding the resultant composition into a given shape and crosslinking the molded composition. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
