titleOfInvention | Production of doped silica glass |
abstract | PURPOSE:To easily obtain doped silica glass at a low cost by preparing sol contg. ions of an element to be added, converting the ions into a substance insoluble in solvents, turning the sol into gel, drying and sintering the gel. CONSTITUTION:Alkoxysilane such as tetraethoxysilane as principal starting material is hydrolyzed with an aq. soln. contg. an element to be added, e.g., an aq. CuCl2 soln. acidified with hydrochloric acid to prepare sol contg. ions of the element to be added, e.g., copper ions. An aq. ammonia soln., an aq. sodium hydroxide soln., a soln. contg. phosphate ions or hydrogen sulfide is added to the sol to produce a substance contg. the element to be added and insoluble in solvents, e.g., copper hydroxide in the sol or gel formed by turning the sol. The gel is dried and sintered to obtain doped silica glass. |
