titleOfInvention Magnetic head slider
abstract PURPOSE: To increase a lubricating characteristic and to avoid a head crash generation by etching-removing selectively only a TiC component to expose to a sliding rail surface for generating the floating force of a medium facing surface and burying a solid lubricant such as a carbon and disulfide molybdenum into a track. n CONSTITUTION: At the surface of both edges of a slider main body composed of TiC, Al 2 O 3 ceramic, two parallel slide rails 12 opposite to a medium surface are formed by having an inclined surface in a sliding direction. In the constitution, a TiC component 22 to expose and dot innumerably on a surface 21 of the rail 12 for generating a floating force is replaced to a solid lubricant 24 such as a carbon and disulfide molybdenum and made into a surface 21 condition. Thus, in addition to an inherent excellent wear resistance of an Al 2 O 3 component 23, a stable lubrication is given, and not only the wear resistance to a disk medium but also lubrication characteristic are increased, and a head crash is prevented. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
