abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled copolymer, having homogeneous composition good appearance and capable of providing molded products having excellent heat resistance, by bulk polymerizing methacrylamide and a monomer copolymerizable therewith in a complete mixing type polymerizer and devolatilizing the formed copolymer. n CONSTITUTION: (A) Methacrylamide in an amount of 3W55pts.wt. is initially bulk copolymerized with (B) 45W97pts.wt. monomer, selected from styrene based monomers expressed by the formula (R 1 WR 3 are H, Cl, Br or 1W3C alkyl), acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate and copolymerizable with the component (A), preferably at 70W250°C in a complete mixing type polymerizer and the formed copolymer is normally subjected to devolatilizing treatment in an extruder to afford the aimed copolymer.
