abstract | PURPOSE: To easily sterilize the bacteria and microbes in water by arranging a microwave generator for projecting a microwave in a microwave-irradiation sterilizing chamber having water outlet and inlet. n CONSTITUTION: The microwave generator 6 is operated by the signal from a controller 12, and an opening and closing valve 11 provided at the water inlet 1 of the microwave-irradiation sterilizing chamber 3 is opened. Under such conditions,drinking water is sent into the sterilizing chamber 3 from the water inlet 1 in the direction as shown by the arrow A at a specified flow velocity. The drinking water is passed through the water-passage small holes cut in an exothermic body 4 of the sterilizing chamber 3 in multiple stages and agitation areas 9. In this case, a microwave is projected on the exothermic body 4 in the sterilizing chamber 3 from the microwave generator 6. The projected microwave is absorbed by the exothermic body 4, hence the body is self- heated, and the drinking water passing through the inside of the sterilizing chamber 3 is heated at a specified temp. and thermally sterilized. The microbes mixed in the water are sterilized by the absorption of the microwave.
