titleOfInvention Therapeutic agent for ischemic diseases
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a therapeutic agent for ischemic diseases which acts on cell membranes to accelerate energy regeneration in muscles, when low oxygen is loaded and is used to treat stenocardia and myocardiac infarction by removing toxic components from a Chinese medicine, Salviae militiorrhizae radix and containing tanshinone I as an active ingredient. n CONSTITUTION: Commercially available Salviae militiorrhizae is extracted with hexane to remove impurities, then extracted with ethyl acetate. The solvent is distilled off from the extract to obtain the essence. The essence is subjected to silica gel chromatography to effect fractionation and the second fraction is collected and recrystallized from ethyl acetate to give tanshinone I. The subject remedy of ischemic diseases is prepared in accordance with Japanese Pharmacopoeia into 10ml injection solution containing 2% tanshinone I or 20ml dripping solution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
