titleOfInvention Hydrophilic self-adhesive composition
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a hydrophilic self-adhesive composition which can show self-adhesiveness even when wetted with water and suitable as, e.g., a patch for oral mucosa, by dispersing a water-absorptive polymer in a phase containing a cellulose ether and/or a cellulose ester and a softener. n CONSTITUTION: A cellulose ether (e.g., ethylcellulose) and/or a cellulose ester (A) (e.g., cellulose acetate) are mixed with a softener (B) which can give flexibility and self-adhesiveness to component A to produce a matrix composed of fully compatibilized components A and B. A water-absorptive polymer (e.g., guar gum or locust bean gum) in a finely divided state is dispersed in this matrix to obtain the purpose hydrophilic self-adhesive composition. The mixing ratio is preferably such that the weight ratio of component B to component A is 50:50W15:85 and that 30W200pts.wt. water-absorptive polymer is present per 100pts.wt. total of components A and B. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
