titleOfInvention Production of 2,3-dimethylindoline
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain, easily in high yield, 2,3-dimethylindoline which is used as a synthetic intermediate of medicines, agrochemicals and photosensitive materials, by reducing 2,3-dimethylindole in the presence of a Pt/C catalyst and an acid. n CONSTITUTION: The catalytic hydrogenation of 2,3-dimethylindole is carried out in the presence of a Pt/C catalyst (Pt content: 2W10wt.%) and an acid such as perchloric acid, fluoroboric acid or acetic acid at a hydrogen pressure of normal one to 10kg/cm 2 below 100°C for 1W6hr. The amounts of the catalyst and the acid are 3W10wt.% and 0.5W1.5 times the molar quantity of the starting indole respectively. A lower alcohol may be used as a solvent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
