abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a photosensitizer in diagnosis and remedy of cancer by laser beam irradiation containing a protoporphyrin IX-tin (IV) complex or magnesium (II) complex as an active ingredient. n CONSTITUTION: The aimed photosensitizer contains as an active ingredient protoporphyrin IX-Sn (IV) or protoporphyrin-Mg (II) capable of readily synthesizing using protoporphyrin IX produced as a liver function improving agent in large amounts and readily obtainable in high quality as a raw material. The above-mentioned compound is specifically accumulated in a cancer organism after passing for some time after administering the compound to an animal to be carried by cancer and fluorescent spectrum is generated by irradiating a beam to the organism. Therefore, the position and size of cancer organism can be known by measuring the spectrum and only cancer cell be selectively killed with singlet oxygen having action killing a cell generated by irradiating laser beam having proper wavelength to the organism. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
