abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R 1 is H or acetyl; R 2 is H, metal or lower alkyl; R 3 is H, OH or residue obtained by removing H from an alcohol part of active ester; Ac is acetyl; n is 1W20). n EXAMPLE: Methyl (2-propenyl-5-acetamide-4,7,8,9-tetra-O-acetyl-3, 5-dideoxyl-α-D- glycero-D-galacto-2-nonylopyranoside)onate. n USE: A biological half-life period extending agent of physiologically active substance, binding agent of coupling gel for affinity chromatography. The aimed compound exhibits high reactivity to amino compound, etc. n PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II (R 7 is lower alkyl) is reacted with an unsaturated alcohol expressed by formula III (R 8 is hydrocarbon) in a solvent such as THF under an inert gas atmosphere.
