titleOfInvention Blood cell separator
abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate a priming operation, to decrease the damages that blood cells receive and to lessen the deterioration in the blood cell sticking behabior of a blood cell sepn. filter with lapse of time by forming the filter material of the filter to a wet state above a satd. moisture content. CONSTITUTION:The blood cell filter is formed by setting a non-woven filter layer 4 made of polyethylene terephthalate into a column body 1 combined with two sheets of square-shaped frame bodies 2, 2' and press-welding the peripheral part thereof. Projections 3, 3' are provided on the inside of a column body 1 to partially support the central part of the filter layer 4. Blood to be treated enters the filter through an inlet 5 and the separated blood emerges from the filter through an outlet 6. The filter layer 4 is maintained in the wet state above the satd. moisture content by water or water soluble materials which are harmless to the living body, for example, aq. solns. of sodium chloride and sodium carbonate. Said layer is sterilized by methods of sterilization such as heating, filtration, irradiation, gas and liquid chemical, more preferably heating by high-pressure vapor or irradiation by radiations.
