abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled high-purity compound having low chlorine content, substantially containing no epichlorohydrin of a raw material, by treating the titled crude compound with a specific heteropolyacid to deactivate a quaternary ammonium salt catalyst and separating by distillation. n CONSTITUTION: Crude glycidyl acrylate (or methacrylate) obtained by reacting an alkali metallic salt of acrylic acid (or methacrylic acid) with epichlorohydrin in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt catalyst is treated with at least one of a heteropolyacid shown by the formula (X is P or Si; Y is W or Mo; Z is H, Li, Na or K; m is 3 when X is P and m is 4 when X is Si; n is 0W30 positive integer) and an alkali metallic salt thereof to deactivate the catalyst and separated by distillation to give glycidyl acrylate (or methacrylate) having ≤0.01 epichlorohydrin content useful as a raw material for coating compounds and resists. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
