titleOfInvention Preparation of polylactone corresponding to poly-alpha-hydroxyacrylic acid
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the title polylactone in a high yield, in low cost and with simple equipment, by reacting α,β-dichloropropionate with a basic substance in water and then with an acid and heating the product in the presence of a polymn. catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: 1.0mol of an α,β-dichloropropionate (e.g. methyl α,β-dichlo ropropionate) is reacted with 1.9/nW3.0/n times the moles of a basic substance (e.g. NaOH) (where n is the valence of said substance) in water to give an aq. soln. of a corresponding α-chloroacrylate. The aq. soln. is then reacted with an acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid) in an amount of 0.02W3.0 equivalent per equivalent of said basic substance, and the product is heated in the presence of a polymn. catalyst (e.g. potassium persulfate) at 40W200°C to give the title polylactone. According to this method, the materials used can be available or manufactured easily, and the title polylactone can be prepared in a high yield and in low cost, using simple equipment, not requiring any special equip ment. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
