titleOfInvention Antifouling agent containing organobismuth compound
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled antifouling agent for preventing algae and fouling organisms from attaching themselves to the bottom of ship fishing not and underwater structures, being decomposed and made nonpoisonous with time, comprising a mono or diaryl bismuth compound as an active ingredient. n CONSTITUTION: A compound (e.g. diphenylbismuth hydroxide) shown by the formula (R is aryl; X is inorganic or organic negative group; L is ligand; n is 1 or 2; m is 0W2) is blended with an oil or synthetic resin vehicle (e.g. linseed oil, hempseed oil, vinyl, alkyd or urethane synthetic resin) and, if necessary, another antifouling substance (e.g. cuprous oxide), pigment, plasticizer or tar pitch to give an antifouling agent. The antifouling agent has excellent effects on algae such as sea lettuce and green laver, has no occurrence of slime to promote deposition of fouling organisms (e.g. barnacle), is readily decomposed in the sea and made nonpoisonous so there is no fear of environmental pollution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
