titleOfInvention Separation of sulfur oxide-base gas
abstract PURPOSE: To efficiently separate SO x -base gas by using a membrane consisting of a modified PVA-base polymer having both a unit contg. sulfonyl group and vinyl alcohol unit as an essential constitutional unit. n CONSTITUTION: A membrane consisting of a modified PVA-base polymer having both modified sulfonyl unit and vinyl alcohol unit shown in the following chemical formula as an essential constitutional unit is made by dissolving PVA and vinyl sulfone such as methyl vinyl sulfone into a solvent and allowing to react with each other. The membrane obtained by such a method has high permselectivity for SO 2 and SO 2 can be separated from a gaseous mixture with high efficiency. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
