titleOfInvention Control of vermin by disturbing communication
abstract PURPOSE:To decrease the density of vermin around a field, by dissipating a sex pheromone composition obtained by compounding a sex pheromone with its precursor substance, etc., thereby disturbing the communication between the vermin and to improve the vermin-controlling effect by the strong copulation-inhibiting effect of the pheromone. CONSTITUTION:A sex pheromone composition containing 100pts.wt. of a sex pheromone and 0.5-20pts.wt. of a sex pheromone precursor or attraction- inhibiting substance consisting of alcohols is dissipated to control vermin by the communication disturbing effect. The alcohols are produced by the saponification of acetate in the sex pheromone composition and are Z-11-tetradecenyl alcohol, Z-9-dodecenyl alcohol, etc., for tea tortrix and ZZ/ZE-7,11-hexadecadienyl alcohol, etc., for Pectinophora gossypiella. The composition is used in the form of dissipation-controlling preparation such as thin tube wrapped with a plastic film (e.g. polyethylene) or a bag made of a laminated film.
