titleOfInvention Thioformylimidazole compound and synthesis of said compound
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R 2 is H, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , isopropyl undecyl, heptadecyl or phenyl; R 4 is H or CH 3 ; X is Cl, R, NO 3 , SO 4 /2 or PO 4 /3) or formula II. n EXAMPLE: 4-Thioformyl-2-methylimidazole H 2 SO 4 salt. n USE: A starting raw material for latent cure accelerator for epoxy resin or various imidazole compounds having important significance in biochemical field, e.g. histidine and the compound of formula III which is a raw material for cimetidine(R) useful as a remedy for peptic ulcer. n PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by leaving an imidazole-dithiocarboxylic acid compound of formula IV (M is H, Na, K or NH 4 ) in water or in an aqueous solution of alcohol in the presence of a mineral acid of formula HX at room temperature over a long period or by heating the above mixture at a temperature between 40°C and refluxing temperature for a proper time, thereby reacting the starting compound. The obtained compound of formula I can be converted to the compound of formula II by neutralizing with an alkali such as NaHCO 3 . n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
