abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high yield and selectivity at a low cost from fluorobenzene, carbon monoxide and an alkali metal salt of a phenolic compound free from substituent group at para-position via iodination step, esterification step and rearrangement reaction step. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula V useful as a monomer for heat-resistant polymer, etc., can be produced at a low cost by (1) reacting the compound of formula I with I 2 and/or HI in the presence of an oxidizing agent, especially nitric acid and/or a nitrogen oxide having oxidizing power, (2) reacting the resultant compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (R 1 WR 4 are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, F, etc.; M is alkali metal), especially Na salt or K salt of phenol or 2,6-dimethylphenol in the absence of catalyst at 150W400°C, especially 180W350°C and (3) subjecting the obtained compound of formula IV to rearrangement reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst, especially a Lewis acid and/or strongly acidic protonic acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
