titleOfInvention Novel tetraaryl borate
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R 1 and R 2 represent H, -CF 3 or formula II (R 3 represents alkyl, allyl, acyl or benzyl); M represents alkali(earth)metal or ammonium ion]. n EXAMPLE: Tetramethylammonium tetrakis{[3,5-bis(2,2,2,-trifluoro-1-methoxy-1-(tri fluorome thyl)e thyl]phenyl}borate. n USE: An anionic phase-transfer catalyst. n PREPARATION: 1,3-Bis[ 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-hydroxy-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl]benzene is iodinated with iodine in fuming sulfuric acid, methylated with dimethyl sulfate and further reacted with magnesium in a solvent (e.g. ethyl ether) and trifluoroborane-ether complex is dropped thereinto and hydrolyzed with an aqueous solution of an alkali(earth)metal salt. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
