abstract NEW MATERIAL:2-Methyl-1,8-octanediol di(meth)acrylate expressed by the formula (R is H or CH 3 ). n USE: A raw material or intermediate for adhesives, thermosetting coatings, printing inks, photosensitive agents, crosslinking agents, modifiers for copolymers, etc., capable of providing urethane-modified acrylate resin compositions, etc., with hardly any skin irritancy, having excellent compatibility with urethane-modified acrylates, etc., great effects on lowering of viscosity and excellent operability and cured products having improved hydrolytic, weather resistance, flexibility and adhesive properties. n PREPARATION: For example, (meth)acryloyl chloride and 2-methyl-1,8-octanediol are subjected to dehydrochlorination reaction in the presence of a tertiary amine, such as triethylamine, in a solvent, such as dry ether, at 0W10°C for 5W8hr to afford the aimed compound expressed by the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
