abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain the title flat film excellent in lubricity, chipping resistance, etc. and suitable for videotapes, etc., by forming a polyester homoginously containing specified amounts of two kinds of spherical silica particles of different particle diameters into a film and biaxially stretching this film. CONSTITUTION:A polyester containing 0.01-2.5wt.% spherical silica particles, as a first component, of an average particle diameter of 0.05-0.5mum and a particle diameter ratio (major diameter/minor diameter) of 1-1.2 and 0.005-2wt.% (<= the amount of said first component) spherical silica particles, as a second component, of an average particle diameter which is larger than that of said first component by at least 0.1mum and is in the range of 0.15-0.6mum is produced. This polyester is formed into a film, and this film is biaxially stretched to obtain the purpose biaxially oriented polyester film. In this way, a film low in a content of voids and highly uniform in a distribution of protrusions formed on the surface can be obtained. |
