abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer compsn. having excellent mechanical properties as well as excellent moldability, by blending a compsn. consisting of a specific polyamide and a specific polyphenylene ether with a compatibilizing agent. CONSTITUTION:A polymer compsn. consists of 100pts.wt. compsn. (A) consisting of 5-95wt.% polyamide (a) having an intrinsic viscosity of 1.6-3.8 and a terminal amino group content of 35-95mmol/kg and 95-5wt.% polyphenylene ether (b) obtd. by oxidative-polymerizing a phenol compd. of formula and 0.01-100pts. wt. compatibilizing agent (B). In the formula, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each H, halogen, a hydrocarbon or a substd. hydrocarbon group and they are the same or different group and at least one thereof is hydrogen. As the compatibilizing agent, a modified rubbery material and/or an epoxy compd. are/is used.
