titleOfInvention Thermal recording material
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having favorable dot reproduction properties and high printing quality, by incorporating an organic compound having a melting point not lower than a specified temperature into an undercoat layer, and incorporating a pigment having an oil absorption not lower than a specified value into a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:An organic compound having a melting point of at least 50 deg.C is incorporated in an undercoat layer whereas a pigment having an oil absorption according to JIS-K5101 of at least 80cc/100g is incorporated in a thermal color forming layer, in a thermal recording material comprising the undercoat layer comprising a pigment and a binder as main constituents on a base and the thermal color forming layer on the undercoat layer. The pigment may be calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, a polyethylene resin powder or the like, while the binder may be a water-soluble high molecular weight compound or a water-insoluble binder. The amount of the binder being used is 3-100% based on the pigment. The organic compound may be beta-naphthyl benzyl ether, paraffin wax, 1,1,3-tris(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-t-butylphenyl)butane or the like, and the amount thereof is preferably 0.5-20wt.% based on the undercoat layer.
