abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a resin preventing residence burn of prepolymer in preheating zone, by supplying a rubber-containing styrene resin prepolymer to a screw extruder, heating the resin, adjusting to a specific pressure, transferring the resin to a heated monomer removing zone and removing the momomer. n CONSTITUTION: A rubber-containing styrene resin prepolymer containing monomer (preferably having a solid concentration of 30W80%) is supplied to a screw extruder having heat-generating function by mixing under shearing force, heated usually at 150W190°C, adjusted to a pressure to keep the liquid state of the prepolymer and supplied to a monomer-removing zone heated preferably at 190W230°C. Monomer is evaporated and removed from the resin to obtain the objective resin. The ratio of cylinder length to cylinder diameter of the extruder is preferably 5W30 and the rotational speed of the screw is preferably 100W300rpm. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
