Raw material substance for cosmetic |
abstract |
PURPOSE:To provide the titled substance having excellent compatibility to surfactants of various compounded cosmetic compositions and resistant to deterioration with microbial action, etherifying a cellulose in a homogeneous reaction system in a state dissolved in a solvent and using the resultant water-soluble cellulose ether as a components. CONSTITUTION:The objective raw material substance for cosmetic is composed of a water-soluble cellulose ether (e.g. methylcellulose and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) produced by etherifying a cellulose or a cellulose derivative (e.g. cellulose acetate) in homogeneous reaction system in a state dissolved in a solvent. The water-soluble cellulose ether can be produced e.g. by simultaneous saponification and etherification of cellulose acetate with an alkaline substance in a homogeneous reaction system dissolved in a solvent or by the etherifying and then deacetylating cellulose acetate. Cosmetics (such as milky lotion, lipstick and cream) compounded with said raw material substance has excellent spreadability, is free from stickiness and imparts moistness to finished skin. |
