titleOfInvention Graft copolymer of cellulose derivative
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title copolymer which can give a paint which can give a film having a high hardness and flexibility and being good in weathering resistance, solvent resistance and dryability, by polymerizing, by ring opening, ε-caprolactone with the hydroxyl groups of a cellulose derivative having hydroxylic graft chains. n CONSTITUTION: A graft copolymer of a cellulose derivative useful as a paint vehicle, prepared by polymerizing, by ring opening, ε-caprolactone with the hydroxyl groups of a cellulose derivative having hydroxylic graft chains (e.g., one prepared by introducing polymerizable double bonds into cellulose acetate butyrate by reacting its remaining hydroxyl groups with the isocyanato group of β-isocyanatoethyl methacrylate, and copolymerizing the introduced double bond with β-hydroxyethyl methacrylate). The use of this copolymer makes it possible to obtain a paint which can give a film having a high hardness and flexibility and good in weathering resistance, solvent resistance and dryability and good in compactness. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
