PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic composition, containing a phosphoric acid ester salt of an organic hydroxy compound, having excellent emulsification power and humectant effects with hardly any irritation to the skin. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic composition containing a compound expressed by formula I [R is group expressed by formula II or III (R<1> is 1-36C alkyl or alkenyl which may be substituted by F or alkyl-substituted phenyl: R<2> is 2-3C alkylene; m is 0-30; n is 0 or 1); M is H, alkali (earth) metal, Zn, Al, etc.]. This cosmetic is capable of moderately remaining on the skin even after washing with water and has water holding effects on the surface thereof. The phosphoric acid ester expressed by formula I may be used with other anionic activators, nonionic activators, etc. |
