abstract PURPOSE:To prevent an incompatibility feeling from being given at the hardware limit by correcting the calculated steering angle control quantity so as to smoothly approach the hardware limit when this calculated value exceeds the hardware limit. CONSTITUTION:A signal from a steering angle sensor 12, a signal from a vehicle speed sensor 13 detecting the vehicle speed V, a signal from a control steering angle sensor 14 detecting the steering angle control quantity deltaF of front wheels based on the stroke of an actuator 5, and a signal from a control steering angle sensor 15 detecting the steering angle control quantity deltaR of rear wheels based on the stroke of an actuator 6 are inputted to a controller 11. The controller 11 calculates and corrects steering angle control quantities deltaf', deltar' of the front and rear wheels respectively based on the steering angle theta and the vehicle speed V and controls valves 7, 8 based on deviations between them and actual steering angle control quantities deltaf, deltar to make deltaf, deltar coincident with the calculated and corrected results of deltaf', deltar' respectively.
