abstract NEW MATERIAL:[5-(1-Cyano)cyclopentyl-2,4-dichloro]trifluoromethane sulfonani lide of formula I. n USE: A herbicide effective against weeds in paddy field such as barnyard grass, umbrella plant, etc., and in plowed land such as Deccan grass, large crab-grass, etc. It exhibits excellent effect against perennial weeds such as nut grass, Johnson grass, etc., and has high safety to cotton. n PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting an aniline derivative of formula II with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid anhydride or trifluoromethanesulfonic acid halide in a solvent (e.g. acetone) in the presence of a base (e.g. triethylamine) at -15W+100°C for 1W20hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
