titleOfInvention Hydrogel resin
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a water-insoluble title resin having a water content approximately equal to that of the cornea of man and useful for soft contact lenses, separative membranes, catheters, medical materials, etc., by carrying out polymerization and crosslinking using a specific N-substituted (meth)acrylamide as an essential component. n CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. N-substituted (meth)acrylamide (A) of the formula (wherein R 1W3 is H or CH 3 ; m and n are each 0W20, and m+n=1W20) and, if desired, 1,000pts.wt. or less, based on component (A), another polymeric monomer (B) (e.g., 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, etc.) polymerizable with the component (A) are polymerized in the presence of 0.01W5wt.% (based on the total amount of monomers) polymerization initiator (C) such as 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile at, for example, 80°C or above, and at the same time the self-condensation reaction is effected for the crosslinking. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
