titleOfInvention Aromatic polyketone copolymer and its production
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title copolymer excellent in flame retardancy, mechani cal strengths, etc., by mixing 4-hydroxythiophenol with 4,4'-dihy droxybenzophenone and polycondensing the mixture with a 4,4'-diha loterephthalophenone. n CONSTITUTION: 30W99mol.% 4-hydroxythiophenol is mixed with 70W1mol.% 4,4-dihydroxybenzophenone. The obtained active hydrogen component is polycondensed with an equimolar amount of a 4,4-dihaloterephthalophenone at 200W400°C in the presence of an alkali metal (bi)carbonate by using an aromatic sulfone or ketone as a solvent. In this way, the title copolymer comprising structural units A of formula I, structural units B of formula II and structural units C of formula III, having a unit A to unit C molar ratio of 30:70W99:1, having a linear polymer structure in which units A are alternating bonded with either of units B and C, and having an intrinsic viscosity ≥0.4 can be obtained. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
