titleOfInvention Production of l-alpha-methylphenylalanines
abstract PURPOSE: To readily, stably and efficiently obtain the titled compound useful as a medicine, by reacting DL-methylphenylalaninamides with microbial cells of bacteria belonging to the genus Protaminobacter and asymmetrically hydrolyzing the L-isomer. n CONSTITUTION: DL-α-Methylphenylalaninamides expressed by formula I (R 1 and R 2 are H or lower alkyl or both R 1 and R 2 are alkylene and together may link to form a 5-W8-membered ring) are reacted with microbial cells of bacteria belonging to the genus Protaminobacter, e.g. Protaminobacter alboflavus ATCC 8458, etc., or treated materials thereof and asymmetrically hydrolyzed to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
