abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title resin effective in improving heat resistance, plasticity, electrical properties, impact resistance, mechanical strengths, and weathering resistance, by reacting a specified epoxy resin with a compound such as diphenylphosphinoyl chloride in the presence of a dehydrochlorinating agent. n CONSTITUTION: A diphenol compound (a) of formula I (wherein A is O, SO 2 , S, CH 2 or a group of any one of formulas IIWIV or the like, X is H, Cl, Br or F and m and n are each 1W4) is reacted with a (methyl)epihalohydrin (b) to obtain an epoxy resin (A) of formula V (wherein R 1 is H or CH 2 and q is 1W100). Component A is reacted with 1W1.3mol, per OH group of component A, of a compound (C) of formula VI (wherein R aWb are each Rc or a group of any one of formulas VIWIX) or the like, Rc is H or a 1W22C alkyl, X' is Cl or Br), e.g., diphenylphosphinoyl chloride, at 0W40°C in the presence of 1W1.1mol, per mol of component B, of a dehydrochlorinating agent (e.g., trimethylamine) to obtain the title resin of formula X. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
