abstract | PURPOSE: To suppress the inhibition to enzymatic activity and improve the storage stability of a reagent for the analysis of cholesterol, by adding a bile acid (derivative) or its salt and a specific alkylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol to the reagent. n CONSTITUTION: The objective integrated multi-layer analytic element for quantitative determination of total cholesterol is composed of a layer containing a hydrophilic polymer and a porous developing layer laminated to a light- transmitting water-impermeable substrate in the order and containing an enzyme having cholesterol esterase activity, a cholesterol oxidase, a peroxidase and a color-developing reagent composition.
