titleOfInvention Magnetic recording medium
abstract PURPOSE: To reduce the thickness of a magnetic layer, to improve surface smoothness and electromagnetic conversion characteristic and to obtain excellent durability by disposing a conductive intermediate layer contg. a specific copolymer and carbon black between a nonmagnetic flexible base and the magnetic layer. n CONSTITUTION: The binder contg. the phosphate modified-vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/vinyl alcohol copolymer having the constitution unit expressed by the formula (A is H, alkali metal atom or hydrocarbon group) in the chain is incorporated between the nonmagnetic flexible base and the magnetic layer. A polyurethane resin and low mol.wt. isocyanate compd. or resin having radiation polymerizable double bonds is incorporated into said binder and the intermediate layer is formed to ≤0.010μm surface roughness. Since the phosphate component in such copolymer acts as a hydrophilic polar group, the magnetic layer to be disposed thereon can be formed as the thinner layer; in addition, the excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic is obtd. Such medium is preferably used for a magnetic disk, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
