titleOfInvention | Analysis of acrylic resin in coated film |
abstract | PURPOSE: To enable measurement of the mol.wt. distribution of the acrylic resin in a cured and coated film of an acryl/melamine resin by heating the coated film together with alcohol and selectively cleaving the crosslinking point of the acrylic resin/melamine resin so that the resins are made soluble in an org. solvent. n CONSTITUTION: The coated film of the acryl/melamine resin is brought into reaction with the aliphat. alcohol such as methanol to cleave the crosslinking point of the acrylic resin/melamine resin constituting the coated film. The reaction temp. of the coated film and the alcohol is adequately in a 100W150°C range. The alcohol is removed from the soln. to the extent of not drying the soln. to solidify. The residue is then dissolved in an org. solvent such as chloroform and the analysis sample prepd. in such a manner is injected into gel permeation chromatograph by which a chromatogram is obtd. The gel permeation chromatograph provided with an IR detector is used and the detection wavelength is preferably selected at 1,720 -1 absorption position of ester at which only the acrylic resin can be selectively detected. The average mol.wt. is calculated from the resultant chromatogram. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
