titleOfInvention Insecticide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a safe and novel insecticide sustaining effects for a long period with a relatively small amount, containing 3-phenyl-2-propenoic acid, namely cinnamic acid, as an active ingredient. n CONSTITUTION: An insecticide containing cinnamici acid, namely 3-phenyl-2- propenoic acid (producible from benzaldehyde, acetic anhydride and potassium acetate by Perkin reaction) which exists in a liberated form or as an ester in the natural world and has high safety, as an active ingredient. Since cinnamic acid is a solid having low sublimation, preferably cinnamic acid is impregnated into a proper carrier such as filter paper, etc., or dispersed into another subliming insecticide such as camphor to enlarge surface area and used. The resulting material is packed into an air-permeable bag such as Japanese paper and put in a moistureproof cellophane having bored small holes. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
