titleOfInvention | Production of 2,3,5,6-tetrachloropyridine |
abstract | PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the titled material useful as an intermediate of insecticide in high purity, by reacting a mixture of 2-chloropyridine and 2,6-dichloropyridine with chlorine at a specific temperature using a halogenated metal based Lewis acid as a catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A metal halide (e.g. FeCl 3 , AlCl 3 , SbCl 5 , BF 3 , TiCl 4 ) having Lewis acid is added as a catalyst to a mixture of 2-chloropyridine and 2,6- dichloropyridine obtained by distilling an extracting solvent and unreacted pyridine out of a vapor phase light-chlorination reaction mixture of pyridine, and chlorine is blown into the mixture at 100W250°C (preferably 150W220°C) to provide the titled material. The catalyst is used in an amount of 0.5W10wt% based on the raw material mixture and the titled material is advantageously obtained as 2,6-dichloropyridine become rich in a weight ratio of the component in the raw material mixture. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
