titleOfInvention Manufacture of steering wheel made of urethane
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain tactile feeling which is free from sweating and favorable by making a urethane resin coating into a microporous state, by a method wherein the urethane resin coating is formed of a paint having DMF for its diluting solvent and the DMF in the coating is removed by extracting the same. CONSTITUTION:Molds (top and bottom forces) 3, 5 are clamped by setting up a core metal 1 to the bottom force 3 and molding is performed by casting a urethane foam compounded solution into a product cavity 7 of the molds. A steering wheel 9 obtained through mold release after completion of cure of a cast material passes through a removing and washing processes of the surface of the foam. Then a coating 13 formed on a foam 15 by applying urethane resin paints 11 having dimethylformamide (DMF) for its diluting solvent to the steering wheel 9 by dipping the steering wheel 9 into the urethane resin paints 11 while the steering wheel 9 is being turned. The title method is constituted so that this quantity of application in this case becomes 10-50mum at a dried film thickness. Then the steering wheel whose surface of the urethane foam is covered with a polyurethane resin coating 13 is dipped into water bath 17 before volatilization of the DMF. Then the DMF in the coating is removed through extraction and the coating 13 become microporous.
