abstract PURPOSE:To enlarge an absorption region to the longer wavelength side, by using a fluoran compound having an oligoaniline skeleton as a substituent group as a color forming dye, and using a metallic salt of nitrobenzoic acid as a color developer. CONSTITUTION:A fluoran compound having an oligoaniline skeleton of formula I, wherein each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is independently hydrogen, a halogen, lower alkoxyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, benzyl or phenyl, R5 is a halogen or lower alkyl, R6 is a halogen, cyano, alkyl or aryl, R7 is hydrogen, a lower alkyl, aryl or aralkyl, each of n and p is 0-3, and m is 1-3, as a substituent group is used as a color forming dye, and a metallic salt of nitrobenzoic acid is used as a color developer. A thermal color forming recording material obtained by using the dye and the color developer is capable of showing strong absorption of near-infrared radiations in a long-wavelength region.
