NEW MATERIAL:N-(2-Mercaptethyl)methacrylamide of the formula. n USE: It is used as a monomer which can form polymers bearing S-H groups as branch terminals or crosslinked polymers. These polymers are used as a gel for separation and purification of substances in living bodies such as aminoacids or nucleic acids, or as an epoxy resin-curing agent or as a biodegradable or photodegradable polymeric materials. n PREPARATION: The reaction of cysteamine, cysteamine hydrochloride or sulfate with methacryloyl chloride in the presence of a dehydrochloride such as aqueous alkali metal hydroxide gives the compound of the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
