titleOfInvention Production of 2-chloropropionaldehyde
abstract PURPOSE: Vinyl chloride is made to react with CO and H 2 in the presence of an Rh compound, a base, a water-insoluble or hardly soluble organic solvent and water at low temperature and pressure condition, the titled substance is selectively separated from the water phase and the organic phase containing the Rh component is recycled. n CONSTITUTION: Vinyl chloride is made to react with CO and H 2 in the presence of an Rh compound, a base, a water-insoluble or hardly soluble organic solvent (e.g. hexane, benzene, monochlorobenzene, etc.) and water at 20W100°C and the reaction mixture is separated into a water phase and an organic phase. The titled substance is separated from the water phase and the organic phase containing almost all Rh component is recycled to the first step. The base used in the above process is preferably a mixture of the compound of formula P(R 1 R 2 R 3 ) (R 1 WR 3 are alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, etc.) and an N-containing compound having a pka of 3W11 (e.g. pyridine, quinoline, etc.). The amount of water is 0.1W100pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of vinyl chloride. n USE: Intermediate for chemicals, pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
